I have been in Kyoto 5 times and stayed in the Millennials for 3 times. As long as I travel alone, the Millennials is always my first choice. The convenience and the location is awesome, staff are always smiling and helpful. For all of these the price is really good! I really love this place and would absolutely recommend it.

Best capsule hostel I stayed in so far! Prime location in central Kyoto so everything around Gion, Kawamarachi, etc was walkable. The beds were amazing and everything was super clean. The 8th floor during free beer hour is great for meeting people. Wish this hostel would exist in more cities!

Perfect for solo travellers. The capsules are very spacious and cosy. Very comfortable bed. The toilet & showers are clean & equip with everything you need. There’s a nice common area space so the free tea & coffee.

I stayed here as a solo female traveler for my spring break! It was very clean and quiet. The facilities, like shower, bathroom and shared kitchen, were easily accessible and well maintained. I was a bit worried about my things - there’s only a very small locker under your bed, and the rest is a sliding drawer for your suitcase - since the area underneath cannot be locked so your suitcase isn’t ‘secure.’ However, I had no issues with this during my stay! I just pulled down the curtain to my room completely every time I left and I never found my things tampered with or stolen! Every morning starting at 7:30, they serve breakfast for ¥800 which is quite yummy - all you can eat bread and soup! The staff were kind and helpful as well. The location is great for shopping as well.

location is ideal, minutes to Gion as well as Harajuku, the main commercial center. Walking distance to many temples (inc. Kiyomizu-dera) and public transportation at the door for further temples and Arashiyama. Free-beer concept is smart marketing. Free amenities inc: bath towels, toothbrush/paste, razor & cream, ear plugs, comb, q-tips, tissues and slippers; friendly staff provide amenity top-ups. Bathtub located at the last shower cubicle. Shower gel is nice. I’d skip breakfast. pj’s are rented. Millennials is an established joint, so it definitely needs a spruce-up or revamp (the capsules, finicky projector ports, sofas, entrance). Nevertheless, the millennials is the best place to stay in Kyoto for its central location and super-chilled out vibe! ~i stayed a week and I’d definitely stay here again :)

Location is great. You go lots of places by walking. Common room is so good, different types of seatings and corners, to sit with people or alone. Its city view is also impressive. In japan you have water everywhere but tea and coffee available as free. Capsule was good, under there is an area to put your luggage. Bed turns to a sofa, too. I wish there was little more space next to the bed. They give you towels, toothbrush, etc. in a bag and you can get them again if you need. I was satisfied with the staff while check-in and during my stay. In the evening free beer was a good idea.

The staff was extremely helpful, and I loved the location. It has a fantastic mix of hostel and capsule hotel offerings with a vibrant international guest community. It appears to be a little newer than their Shibuya property. Your sleeping quarters are controlled by a dedicated iPod, that you can set to gently wake you up with light and the bed rising. The under-bed safe deposit box is large enough for a small laptop. I wish there were more properties like this on my travels.

The beds were soooo comfortable. I had the best night’s sleep here of all places I stayed. The capsules are luxurious. Glamsule not a capsule.

The bed was comfortable, I loved the under bed luggage storage (which can hold multiple small to medium luggage), not locked but Japan is safe. There's a teeny tiny combo locker, literally a very small purse or wallet can fit. The showers were amazing and even the small tub was good for a hot bath. Excellent water pressure and rain shower. The kitchen was immaculate, free coffee and tea, and the lounge area was very comfortable, kindness for the free beer hour! The location was very central, with the river a block away and Pontocho Park and lots of shopping (Nishiki Market is nearby) Especially the musubi restaurant. The Kyoto buses are superb to get around the city! There's a bus stop half a block away. Very good value. I slept like a baby even without ear plugs. Everyone respectful. The staff are AMAZING!

Staff was really great in both locations: Tokyo and Kyoto. In Tokyo the staff helped me find a doctor and in both locations staff helped with the taxi. Really nice and very good English. About the hotel: the rooms are ventilated which is great for a good night sleep. Bathrooms are just spotless. Extremely clean. Towels can be changed after each use. I like that the restrooms are separated from the showers and there are plenty of sinks. Shower rooms are perfect size. You even have a designed area where to leave your clothes. Shower gel, shampoo, conditioners are premium quality. Location: excellent! Walkable distance to Gion and to the subway station. Loads of restaurants and shops around the area. Everything was top! If I ever go back to Japan I know where I'm staying.
